Sooo, "About Me" I guess?
I'm Sid! or Bloo, if you'd rather refer to me by my sona.
So,yeah, I'm not putting my face on here lol.
I'm not exactly like Bloo, but we share defining features. I'm the guy who's glued this hazard site together.
I have a deep adoration for horror, for animation, and for art. I love color! I try to incorporate color in almost every aspect of my artistic pursuits.
Bloo is a sort of amalgamation of my. various interests. He's a cute ragdoll puppet thing =P but also a vessel for more abstract body horror. He's a creepy doll that really wants to be liked for his personality rather than the monstorous inside he has... he's like me fr!
My Interests
First and foremost: Jim Henson's work, like, most if not all of his puppetry is at least artistically interesting to me in some fashion. While his more child friendly shows don't lock me in the same way as the muppets, its like... watching cat videos to me? It's cute and its plesantly made. I also find it really interesting how much care was put in every episode.
oml I can yap about star trek for fucking hours. I've got DS9 and TNG on dvd, as well as a few episodes of TOS, and some of the movies on vhs.
Speaking of!
I collect vhs tapes, and also cassette tapes. I dont mind that they'll eventually degrade with use tbh, I just would rather have a physical copy of films I enjoy.
What Is Bloo?
Bloo is.. Well, Bloo! Full legal name: Bloo Sweetheart, the personification of all the things I love about art.
He's silly and goofy, but there is a baked in horror to him. He's a creepy meat puppet that overexaggerates things about myself that I find either fun or personal.
I often find myself feeling contained by my own skin, either from a literal or social perspective, and his design reflects that. Like, Yes, being a human is wonderful in the way that you are breathing and thinking and can change yourself in any number of ways...but isn't the experience confining? To not have control over fundemental aspects of how others percieve you? Bloo and myself enjoy being not serious about existence.
but theres a weighted reminder, you know? a zipper on the back of his body. There's meat under the felt and as natural as that is to Have as a living thing, its not something thats suposed to be seen.
Am I putting WAAAY too much weight in the stupid design of what is at best a knock off welcome home design?
Maybe,
but when i designed Bloo, i felt a real draw to these stupid connections. I feel Bloo is like me fr, in an artistic sense.
